Three months after his official presentation as a new Barcelona player, the Guaje Villa wore his equipment again to complete his most awaited moment, his debut with his new team’s shirt.
The first minutes of the second half, in the second match of Spain’s Supercup against Seville FC, when a deafening round of applause came from the fans when they saw David Villa and Andrés Iniesta warming up on the pitch, two of the most awaited players by the local supporters.
It was the 56th minute of the match when the Barcelona coach decided to send the awaited world champions onto the pitch. The Camp Nou paid a tribute to their superb couple and soon the results of this new duo were obvious on the grass.
As a result of a combination between the new two players, we witnessed the goal that finished the game, “hat-trick” by Messi that finished a wide 4-0 to celebrate the first trophy of the present campaign; Supercup with a taste of glory for the Guaje Villa.
After the match, the “culé” 7 declared:
“ I’m very happy with my first game. It’s my dreamed debut, I didn’t expect such a happy day and we hope to continue just like this”.
“I can’t ask for anything else. We’ve won the Supercup, with a great result, and the fans have enjoyed our game and the goals”
Regarding his integration in the group, the player from Tuilla said that “I know how many of them think, how they play. They do it with perfection, their game is memorized and that makes anyone’s integration much easier”
About the good feeling shown by Barcelona’s fans, Villa declared that “he feels very happy about the applause and it’s a wish come true to be wearing this t-shirt. I am happy with the reception and I have to thank everyone”.
Lastly he added that “one of the reasons why I came to Barça was for me to increase my trophies and this is my first day and my first cup, it’s been a memorable day in my sporting career”
