The beginning of the second half of the league didn’t begin with a good result for Emery’s team in the always complicated stadium of Ramón Sánchez Pizjúan. The black and whites suffered their second defeat away from their stadium in Mestalla, after falling against Seville in a very equalized game right until the last minute.
Two goals by Álvaro Negredo gave the players from Nervión an advantage in the result that was finally definitive despite all the chances the valencian players had, specially in the second half. David Navarro reduced the distance in the 89th minute after scoring with a header after receiving a pass from Bruno.
The Guaje Villa had in his boots two of the best options for the team of Mestalla to score, but in one occasion the posts and in the other the goalkeeper, didn’t let the Guaje go home with one of his favourite prizes.
The match finished with a last and polemic situation involving the sevillian goalkeeper Andrés Palop and the asturian forward that ended with no punishment for the goalkeeper. Ugly action by one of the best goalkeepers in the Spanish league, that inflicted an inexplicable aggression on the “7”, not expected from someone of his experience.
Valencia CF, however, still keeps their third position in the league thanks to the difference they already had after their great first half of the league, and still have three points of advantage with Seville.
The next match will be against Valladolid in Mestalla on Saturday at 18h.
