The 16th league weekend of First Division left another 3 points in Valencia’s pocket after an agonizing victory only achieved in the 93rd minute when a header by the Serbian player Nikola Zigic broke the 0-0 that seemed would be the result at the end of the match. The rest of the games of the weekend also helped the valencians in their interests. The defeat of Seville, against Atlético de Madrid and draws of R. Madrid and Barcelona allowed the valencians to rest in the third position in the league, chasing the second and first positions closely.
David Villa, was again protagonist in his team’s victory but this time he did not score. The player from Tuilla beat his defenders in many occasions during the match but in some of them the posts and in other an inspired goalkeeper Kameni, kept him from scoring.
Yesterday’s match also meant the 200th game of the asturian forward with the valencian t-shirt. A very impressive amount after his arrival in the 2005/6 season in an adventure where he has scored the amasing total of 116 goals, 98 of them in the Spanish league.
The Guaje, even though he did not score, is still commanding the list of top strikers of the first division in this year’s season.
